Imp_list is the Imp 1/2 and Trade Empires discussion list, hosted by Yahoo Groups.
It is here.
Membership of Imp_list is required to download the full versions of the games, including the CD images. The reason for this: when the downloads were open to anyone and everyone, group member of not, the servers got hammered, and the daily bandwidth allowance was being used up in the first few hours of every day. By restricting downloads to those who can be bothered signing up, things are kept flowing along at a much more sedate pace.
Please note: we were plagued for a while with Biker Chicks, virus game sites and other patently non-Imperialism centered folks taking advantage of our collective good will and intelligence. Of course if you wish to be taken advantage of by these or any other demographic subsets, good luck to you — but this is not the place.
So, joining Imp_list requires you to put something in the “tell the list owner why you want to joing this group” box. Please mention “Imperialism”, “TE”, or something equally specific and unambiguous — anything that will confirm that you’re not a spamming sign-up script, or however these things are done these days. So, “Hi”, “Great group”, or “Love this game”, will not do it, sorry, and the application will be denied.

Welcome…
This new version of the Daily Imp is still being tweaked and massaged. Please feel free to offer any input, advice, feedback or complaints by using the Contact page in the main menu... still to do: the categories are a bit of a mess, plus there are some well-known maps that need to have posts about them. ALSO, new policy: whenever I see an informative or entertaining post on the the Imp_List group, I'll repost it here.
"... wonderfully tuned, challenging, complex without being overwhelming, and wears it's gameplay proudly on it's sleeve. Frog City should be wildly commended for shipping such an excellent title, and showing that turn based games, even ones without (relatively) big name licenses, can still pull their weight when it comes to fun. I strongly recommend this game." -- Rob "Xemu" Fermier, Irrational GamesArchives
"This game has totally blown me away, I have lost many hours of sleep playing through the night and have even wagged school so that I could get more game time, not to mention the hours of study I have missed out on for exams due to this freak of nature." -- Alex the Alien

Well what can I say? Imperialism was one of the first ever games I got bought for me when I was a kid. I loved it. I didn’t really have any other exposure to strategy games prior to it so when I got it it was like wow. Since then I’ve been an avid strategy gamer but I always yearned for imperialism, from getting madly frustrated that you can’t upgrade your factories for lack of resources to the pleasure of your first country becoming a colony so cool. So I really want to join this site, because I had trade empires and imperialism 2 but I sucked at both of them, and I’d like to learn to win. Also and more importantly imperialism is still completely playable for me and I really want to discuss it.
hi,
i want to join this group because i play the game for 10 years now. i played every scenario in Imp1 100 times. im looking for a new challenge. ive seen that someone created new maps an scenarios, im very interested.
I really want to get back to playing Imperialism 1. I had the original software, but now I have Windows 7. If I download it will I be able to play without a bunch of tweaking? I am not totally computer literate, just know the basics to do my stuff. Thanks
